1
Trust & Transparency
We must listen and learn with humility and curiosity. We can and should consider all sides of the issues our community cares about most.
People have a right to know why we make the decisions we do. Information vacuums invite anxiety. Communication must become a core competency.
2
Equity with Excellence
Educational opportunities are not zero sum. We should be helping every student maximize their growth potential.
Helping every student develop the tools they need to be successful in their next phase of life does not mean supporting every student in the same way.
3
Inclusion & Individualization
The resources and strategies we use to support students with special needs affect all our students and can benefit every student.
We must do whatever we can to attract and retain the best special ed teachers and aides.
4
Community-Oriented Mental Health
The district on its own can not solve this problem. We should partner with local agencies and institutions to make the progress we hope to see.
We should provide more opportunities for students and parents to contemplate diverse pathways and reexamine what “success” means.
